Daft question on tyre replacement on FWD

Sorry for such a lame , dumb, blonde question but can someone through me a bone here. I need to replace one of my front Kumho tyres which is gubbed! Now the other front tyre has a couple of mm's left on it. Question is, will I get away with replacing just the one or would it be sensible ( something I am not used to doing! ) to replace both at the same time? I only have FWD btw.

Thanks in advance,

Change ASAP or put spare on........that is a blow out waiting to happen!

Both at the same time so that the car has equal grip.

Tyres should always be replaced in pairs (front or rear sets) or on a quattro it is advisable to replace all four with the same

Cheers Mike....chill, these are off my car at the moment as I have a winter tyre set on. I only spotted this after my wheels were painted by "the best" allegedly wheel repair specialist up here. I think they f#cked the tyre up when they refitted it. Only noticed this three months afterwards, after driving like a nutter during the Summer.....it could have ended in tears! Thanks for the advice.

What Mike. M said, plus one. Always replace in pairs (or all four together if it's a quattro). If the other one is down to 2mm, even if it's legal, it won't be much use, and will be dramatically inferior to a new one alongside it on the same axle.

Jeff, Cheers.....there's quite a bit left on the other one too.....but I will go for the two.....makes sense.....just could do without using so many beer tokens on this....but better safe than up a tree...as my Granny would say...eh?!!!! Still have a full set of Conti 5's ( 6 months of use ) on my oem 17" wheels too.....I should flog them really first.
