Is it possible to retro fit DAB to a 2012 A4, if so what's involved?

Thanks.

Yes, depending on the car spec, but usually antenna's, cables & of course dab hardware.

Car is a B8.5 with MMI nav plus (HD based). Any idea on cost of parts and fitting? Is it a DIY job?

I'm interested too. I have the twin SD card Nav HD MMI in my B8.5

For MMI, you'll need a new radio unit to replace the old one in the boot...imagine an eBay special will be around 100-150. Unfortunately the radio unit is a CP part so will need a trip to the main dealer for CP removal which will be 60-100ish depending on how well you get on with your friendly technician :)

New DAB antennas - think you'll be able to pick these up for 30-50 off eBay. I'm not sure if the A4 is the same as the A6 but if it is an Avant you need new rear quarter glass - saloons are fine though.

Cabling I'm not 100% sure on but think you need an additional FAKRA cable between the antenna and radio unit.

Finally VCDS needed to add DAB to the car.

Not an overly difficult DIY as long as you can get all the bits and have VCDS.
