I had an appointment today to change the axel only to be informed that my problem is the gearbox differential. "Ok.. so lets fix it" ... "Oh no we don't fix it, we change it" so i drove home in tears. I have a faulty gearbox laying around so my question is can I change the differential?
And second question can I run a Quattro gearbox without the rear differential?

Considering the work involved for your proposals, why not just source a replacement diff?

maybe time so say farewell to the car now , sounds like a downward spiral on all fronts.

Not an option at the moment as it wouldn't sale for half its price. But really looking at the Quattro conversion.

In theory you can run a Quattro gearbox without the prop and rear diff fitted etc

But as it’s been said many times before it’s not worth the amount of effort and money to convert the car to Quattro. You’re better off selling and buying a Quattro model it will save you a lot
