cutting out

Hi guys, i just bought a 1999 A3 1.8t which really puts a smile on my face when its a lovely dry day, But on my way to work this morning in the pouring rain it kept cutting out, kind of like not letting the turbo kick in had no power and wouldnt go over 3000rpm?

Any suggestions of what this might be would be appreciated greatly.

What engine code? any mods? traction control kicking in maybe?

im having the same problem but mines 1.6 and has no power when it hits 5000 rpm and loses power on the set off i think im puttin mine on the computer tomorrow to see what it says it could be a simliar problem
