Managed to nick one of my front alloys on a curb yesterday....not best pleased!! :(

As I'm based near Southampton, can anyone recommend a good repairer in this area.....the wheel in question is a standard Sport model five spoke alloy (not diamond cut).

Kerbed?
I hope you get it sorted, kind of gets to you when you've done it.

Yeah, Steeve, managed to clip the near side kerb on a sharp bend! Will visit a couple of local wheel repairers, including the Wheel Specialist, this afternoon for quotes.

Got a quote for £98.40 inc VAT from The Wheel Specialist, Fareham, and £78.00 inc VAT from Segensworth Autos.

How do these prices compare to other wheel repairers, and any comments/ recommendations regarding Segensworth Autos?

Sounds much cheaper than a new wheel. If they do a good job seems like a bargain. It's all about an invisible repair rather than the cost though?

Decent price, all depends on how bad the wheel is to be fair!! No idea about the companies you mention as I'm in Scotland! Kerbed a wheel or 2 in the past and it's cost me £50 a time! As Steeve said previously cheaper than a new wheel & cost won't come into it as much as the annoyance of it happening!!

Personally I'd try and find a good used one on eBay and put that on instead. Use the damaged one as a full size spare or sell it on eBay.

I was quoted £110+vat for refurbishing an s-line diamond cut so 90+vat doesn't seem that cheap but as mentioned it's all about the quality of the repair not cost.

Looking at Segensworth Autos website it would appear they do more of a mobile refurb type job, the tyre remaining on the rim and respraying the front. If you want it done properly the wheel needs to be stripped and resprayed completely which is what The Wheel Specialist and most wheel refurb places do. Segensworth look like a jack of all trades and master of.. :meeting:

Thanks for all the replies, and looking at the work the Wheel Specialist carries out to repair, I think the additional cost may be worth it.

Meanwhile, I'll keep an eye out for a secondhand wheel on eBay, though the standard Sport wheels don't seem as popular as the S-line wheels.
