Does it sound louder inside or outside the car?Hello, I have a steering wheel creak coming from the wheel /collum area. Anyone know what is causing this? Noise is when the wheel returns to the centre. Please see the video.
I haven't heard it from outside the car but I'm sure it's coming from the steering collum assembly area.Does it sound louder inside or outside the car?

I had a completely different car and mine was creaking. That sounded like it was coming from the steering column.I haven't heard it from outside the car but I'm sure it's coming from the steering collum assembly area.
It's already been into audi once, I'm dreading how many times it'll go until it's diagnosed and fixed. They cleaned my haldex filter and thought they fixed itI had a completely different car and mine was creaking. That sounded like it was coming from the steering column.
Turned out mine was the hub assembly.

Hello friends, im new here so dont mind correcting me if im wrong.
-> wanted to say dont mind me if im wrong
Sounds to me like something buzzing/rattling as the engine hits it's resonant frequency. I.e. something a wee bit loose somewhere.
I've had it in with audi a few times and they've replaced the clock spring assembly. It is doesn't creak anymore but still makes a noise. Seems to do it less when I've left the car a day or two but it's no longer super annoying like the it was. Just going to leave it for now and hope it doesn't get any worse. I didn't notice a relationship between the temp and creakSounds like the steering wheel slip ring, I had this issue on an A6 and three new clock springs later no resolution, sold the car - solved.
I've heard of people on this forums lubing the clock spring but I think this is inadvisable as it contains the airbag wiring (amongst others).
Does the intensity of the clicking worsen with temp fluctuations?
