Long story short, the claim has been going on a little over 4 months now, with the car being put into a VAG approved bodyshop on November 5.

2 courtesy cars & 20+ phone calls to the dealer, the bodyshop & the independant paint inspection people/company later i get a voicemail today saying Audi Warranty have finally agreed on replacing the roof skin.

The claim has taken so long to sort out that rust bubbles started forming opposite those that i was orignally claiming against!

The estimated time of repair completion is January. No date, just January.

    Surely this isnt the norm?!

Considering in the last 2.5 years the car has had x3 main dealer services, main dealer cambelt, wheel bearings, front brakes, 2 MOTs and fit only set of new 18" tyres i supplied, there royally taking the ****!

Consider yourself lucky that they have actually agreed to the repairs!

Why so? It's a pretty clear cut case, corrosion/perforation under paint is a legit claim for a £FOC repair according to there warranty.

From what I read on here 9 out of 10 times they worm out of fixing it by some means or another. I've had that experience myself

I would also agree with the above post, you should consider yourself lucky you got it. I had a MK5 GTI with rusting underneath the front arches and it was a disaster trying to get them to do the work under warranty even though they have a 12 year warranty on paint. In the end it was denied and ended up selling the car before I could get it done. They will look for any excuse not to do it

Very odd then, from the outset they said it was a legit claim.

New roof skin & gutter trims & top of both rear quarters.

I had similar battles with VAG. Me and my Dad had identical 2003 Tornado Red Golf Match's. We both had bubbling on the passenger side rain gutter over the rear quarter window. The pain inspection was carried out, my car had had some paint at some point in it's life, my Dad's was mint. They processed my Dad's claim, but even then only 70/30, wouldn't touch mine stating that clearly it was as a result of the bodywork being tampered with therefore not VAG's responsibility. I argued that the internet was littered with this complaint, that my Dad's 'minter' had suffered the same issue, and followed up by saying that how did they not know that someone hadn't tried to address this issue already? They point blank refused. I could understand their point to a degree: paintwork had been altered, *but*, the fact my Dad's was identical, they both wen't there the same day and inspected by the same person was a real slap in the face.

But the VAG group are good at doing that. Wasn't a fault with the Golf's window mechanisms, they weren't aware of the clips breaking causing the window to drop into the door....but yet they managed to sell me a window repair kit with metal clips. And the whole 2.0TDi Audi balance shaft issue, I've come to the conclusion that the VAG group are nothing but a bunch of w****rs. But they have the last laugh as I keep buying their cars!

Good job on the repair: you did well to get them to cough up!

Well it took weeks before they could agree on a date for a 2nd inspection as damage was worse then first assumed, and even then it had to be rebooked as Audi dealership failed to pass on the vehicles location (the VAG approved bodyshop) to the independant inspection company ( www.pvwi2010.co.uk )

With regards to cost, they said as a "goodwill gesture" theyll only charge me 30%.... for a £FOC repair. It was at the point when i finally had enough & went spastic on the Audi UK facebook tagging in my local dealership. Next day, it was miracously a £FOC repair like there warranty states.

Althought there was a 3 month old RS7 in with paint bubbles in same place aswell when i was there last checking on progress.

Pete. They were doing mine at 70% but I managed to squeeze another 10% out of them. Tell them you would feel better paying 20%

Mine was an additional 10% dealer contribution. I'm having both rear arches and a replacement drivers wing and arch liner.

I had similar Shiite with Peugeot back in the day. Paint just "crazed" I think it was called. Lacqeur just went and swirls all over one side of motor. Paid for an "independent" inspector but paid the dealer to get him in and he said it had had a paint job on it. Told him I'd never had a spray on and he insisted I had. Cheeky twarts did **** all about it. I wrote the tank off in the end by smashing into someone like a muppet. Live and learn.

Well..... voicemail yesterday telling me the roof will imminently be being removed & estimated completion date of repair will be Feb 8th.

A whole 3 months from the initial trip to the bodyshop and around 7 months since I actually instigated a claim!

Courtesy car wise... I had a 21k mile 1.6 TDI 14 reg A3 S Tronic with all the toys, done around 2.5k miles in 3 weeks, was an alright car just not my cuppa tea...

Then beginning of December it was replaced with an all singing all dancing 64 reg Astra CDTI 6 speed, had 7k on clock, now got 10k.

Anyone had much luck with Sinclair in South Wales? My Avant has rusting wings and a few bubbly rust patches on the tailgate. Strangely it also has sections of lacquer missing in some places.

Exact same bolllocks as my Peugeot I referred to earlier pal from sound of it. Bought from new and offside, full panels except drivers door. One shop reckoned happened quite a bit. Said that if car picked up scratch on production line they'd send it back through for spraying and 8/10 got this issue. Nasty really.
