"Very sweet looking Cab if I may say so.
To be honest, I kind of had my mind set on 18" R6's, however, after seeing your ride above, well, decisions decisions again!!"
3.0 Petrol
How do you find the economy? I'm really frightened to take the 3ltr plunge (as much as I want to!) coming from a 1.6 Zafira getting 330 miles per £50 fill up. How many miles would you get out of £50 on moderate driving??
Footballer....thanks for the comments....
I got them from Wheel-Base.com in Oldham (they have a depot down south too)...with (admittedly cr*ppy Fulda tyres - 235/45/19) they were £634 all in, an on!....3 finishes - Dull Metallic...vert shiny polished...and mine which are somewhere in between! Good quality finishes on them too.
They have showrooms so you can visit and see them against your car etc....I kid you not, once you're there, believe me you're buying 'em!
Just make sure that if you did go for them make sure you go for the 'deeper dish' look or else you'll get the 'flat' variety which all the 'other' Audis have...you can nearly hear the pangs of envy when they see mine, especially when they were probably a £850 option at Audi or whatever.
As for the petrol usage, it depends where your coming from...if its a diesel then you'll be disappointed. I had an Audi 80 Cab 2.0 8v before with about 65hp/ton so i was always ragging it to get around....got about 21mpg on that one....The 3.0 has a smaller tank as it's more economical...I used to get just about 300 miles on the old one (heavy footed driving!) and that took 14 gallons (70 litres) or so. My 3.0 has a 63 litre capacity and I get about 330 driving normally and about 365-385 when I 'really' take it easy on a long run....very, very light footed driving. And of course due to the performance advantage over my old one I don't have to rag it everywhere....if I did i'd be doing 145mph everywhere and possibly doing some time!
Hope this helps anyway...I haven't looked back since i got mine...I had the same thoughts as you, but its not that much worse, consumption wise, as the 2.4 (it uses the same block I think and they just stroke or rebore it to get to 3.0) though you'll never beat the 35+mpg of the 1.8...but then again, the 1.8 doesn't have 220hp...or 245 with a remap as mine has!
Fantastic is the good word for this car...just shop about and pick a good one...I waited nearly 18months getting mine and noticed that every 3 months or so a real gem came up somewhere....after misisng 2 of them I eventually pounced and haven't looked back.
I ended up travelling 250 miles to get it....best train ticket I've ever bought!
You only live once!
