Confused with steering wheel controls

I have just bought an 2004 Audi a3 SE Tdi 2ltr. I have worked out the majority switches and buttons, however, there are 2 buttons on the steering wheel that have me baffled. One is the Mode button (inner LHS), the other is on the (inner RHS) funny ))) symbol. The manual identifies these as mobile phone functions. When pressed the screen displays No Funct. My question is; do I need to buy an extra gadget to connect my phone to use these buttons or do I need to upgrade my concert radio use these buttons?

The L/H button is for getting into your phonebook contacts when your connected through bluetooth. The R/H button is for voice activation.

Thanks, but I don't know how to pair my phone (galaxy ace) with the car. I have a feeling just because I have the buttons for a mobile phone I need either another radio or another gadget to connect.

If its got blue tooth turn on the blue tooth on ur phone search and should u find an audi blue tooth connection pair it with the code as 1234
