new to this if the display shows safe does that mean i need to put a code in [i dont have it ]the car was bought from salvage was it the wife trying to start it with a flat battery that caused it i understand only audi can sort this i also picked up a autochanger at a breakers [out of a a4] and plugged it in could it have been me? ****** thing worked before this but has the usual concert volume trouble

Yeh safe means you need to enter a code by holding down two buttons at the same time until it beeps then enter the 4 digit code then hold the two buttons down again (but you're a bit stuffed without the code). It will be because the battery was flat.
