Hi all,
I've just fitted a S4 interior to my a4.
I've got everything fitted and wired
I've installed the new climate control unit with the heated seat button but the off button just flashes
Do climate control units have component protection on them or is it likely to be the memory seat module under the drivers seat?
I'm not using the memory seat function so can I just disconnect this and it will work.
Cheers

Pretty sure the climate control uses component protection. A VCDS scan will confirm it.

Ok, had the component protection removed today and everything works but there are 2 little issues
1, the passenger seat heater switch switches the drivers seat on and vice versa.
2, also the climate options temp, fan seed etc doesn't show on the screen anymore.
Is there any VCDS adaptions that can fix these issues.
Thanks.

Basically means you have to take it to a main dealer or VAG specialist who has the relevant access.

As for the problems with the config is the unit configured for a LHD car, or just wired incorrectly ?
It's possible that you will need to make amendments to the config of the climate module with VCDS, but these kind of changes are fraught with issues.
Where did you get the CP removed ?. I would have made sure all was OK before leaving.

It's a guy on ebay, I've used him 3 times now.
Everything was connected to the instruction kufatec sent. But it may be possible they've send for lhd?
I'll contact the guy who did the copponent protection and see what he says.
Do you know which wires are the switch for the heat pads? I could just swap them over.?

Ok, been back to the guy today whose looked at it and still can't get the temp/fan speed to show on the screen.
He seems to think that because the climate control unit I've bought is from a 2011 car and mine is a 2008 then another module may need changing.
I've looked at unit for 2008/9 and it's the same part number but with a different letter at the end.
Does anyone have any ideas on this?

You have walked into a bit of a minefield I think with this. I have done a quick Google search and just found 3 threads where people have tried swapping later climate units into earlier cars and all had issues like you, none of them seem to get resolved.

Your car is likely to be MMI 2 where as that module you have fitted will be from an MMI 3 equipped car.

It could be that other modules require updating to get this too work or it may be better just to get the correct module for your car that runs heated seats.

Thanks for the reply.
The unit I bought is still a pre facelift unit so I assumed it would work.
All the functions work it just won't display on the screen. Not sure what mmi I have but its the concert radio.
found this

Got to be worth a shot.

You haven't anything to lose and it will either work or not. The MMI version in the car does make a lot of difference to what you can swap around and what needs tweaking or upgrading. Things have moved on quite a bit since my first Vauxhall Viva.

Karl.

Snap :) , mine was a 1967 pinewood green viva HB SL, 1159cc of raw power :racer: about 40bhp I think on a good day. Really sad I can even remember the number plate CLG 253F

Good news.
I've got the display to work by changing the coding as mentioned above.
Just need to sort the switching now.
