Complete Carbon Fibre Interior Trim...

The want is BBBIIIGGGGG.....but I work it out to be £872 and then if you want carbon atlas you add another $145 (£109).
 
It is proper carbon fibre wrapped onto a OEM part though, not some cheap Chinese replica...

It's insanely expensive though, I think that you'd be cheaper buying OEM unless you wanted a different weave type?

I don't know but being Audi there is always at least four noughts added to anything. Do you think that the Audi carbon fibre would be much cheaper?
 
Reading it again it states OEM but sounds like they make it themselves. Hmm.

I am going to ring Audi and ask how much from them just out of curiosity.

Just for information, the OEM parts are basically just base plastic trims with carbon on the top, rather than a fully carbon part. I noticed that when I had the car wrapped and the trims were removed.

The trims are a few hundred quid as an option with the S4 (but almost £1k on the RS for the same parts?!) so I don't know what they'd charge you but might be worth asking the question. Failing that, maybe German eBay has some?
 
Audi Liverpool just quoted me £1070 for the full set of Carbon Atlas inlays. Ouch.

So basically the same price... Typical Audi though. It's a £425 option in the S4 but they charge almost £1100 for it if you buy is separate. Mental.

How difficult were they to remove, any special tools required?
 
I am trying to find the part number for the Carbon Inlays - if anyone finds it first please post.

Now that I don’t know I’m afraid as they were already off when I arrived to check progress... I think that it’s just clips but i could be mistaken. They need to be removed first before removing the door cards though, so since there’s no screws visible it would add to the potential of them being clipped on.

I cant find the specific part code but I have reached out to 4 Audi breakers to register interest if the parts appear on a car they might get. Also reached out to a few Audi specialists to see if they can source the OEM parts any cheaper
 
Thanks for your answer Daggerit from the pictures it seems like clips but they might need a trim releasing tool of some kind...

The guy that removed them didn't have any specialist Audi tools, I think it mas just the plastic trim removal bits he used.
 
That's what I was thinking, if they can be removed in one piece then there a sale that could ease the cost of the carbon fibre ones..

Just a quick heads up on Carbon-Designz.

I’ve used them extensively for carbon add-ons to the S7, and l can only say that the parts are top quality and cannot be faulted for fit or finish.

The only use OEM Audi parts, then coat them in real carbon fibre, with a clear or mat resin finish. The parts are identical to the OEM weave pattern, so you cannot tell the difference. Every part is made to order, so delivery times can be 4- 8 weeks depending on parts.

Not the cheapest, since they only use OEM parts for the base, but definitely quality parts. :racer:

Does anyone know where you can get replacement black piano trim

I have noticed that the trim near the drive stick is scatched. The other trims are fine though. I am I bit OCD so it would be nice to swap that bit out

The piano black trim looks nice but it seems like it gets marked really quickly
 
the audi dealer i got the car off suggested brasso - I thought that was metal polish

tempted to try this stuff - not sure what the trim is made of though

I have used brasso for fine scratches in acylic baths and clear lids and it works very well...

that is how they make all their money, not really on the car sales, but rather parts. Look at how many people end up "upgrading" their version of a car to the facelift. Bumpers, lights, trim etc etc etc. I remember hearing that if you had to build a car with the parts, the cost would be 10-15 times cost of buying the whole car. Pretty sure this number has gone up a lots, as that was 10+ years ago (no factual info behind this), but would hazard not too far off.

This is normally at LEAST a 400% - 600% markup - whereas getting a 15% markup on the complete car is close to a miracle!

In practice it is a sliding scale - big expensive parts are only 400% - smaller parts like bolts are more - 2,000% is not unusual

A part like a spring that costs $0.05 may be sold for $5 - and doesn't seem to expensive to the guy who needs it - but there are a LOT of small bits in a car

I would expect that if you built a car using parts from the dealer it would be at least ten times the price for a complete car and it would not surprise me if it was 100 times the price

Neither is it typical Audi or in the automotive business. Printers are cheap to buy but a set of oem toners can cost more in some cases.

I have used brasso for fine scratches in acylic baths and clear lids and it works very well...

This.. ^^^^ used to use it to polish plastics including my mgf rear window years ago.. can’t believe I forgot :icon thumright:
