Have you scanned for faults with VCDS? Also try disconnecting MAF sensor and also check temperature of CTS is reading correct with VCDS

Might help if you gave a bit more information on the 'new setup' in case there is a hardware change contributing to the problem... can only diagnose based on assumption of a standard car...

First obvious question... is it mapped for this new setup yet?

So it started doing it straight after swapping the engine? but ran fine with the old engine after your hardware upgrades or was all that done when the engine was swapped?

so it was mapped on the previous engine and you built a new one to the same spec with rods?

Have you had a smoke test for leaks?

Let me get this right, you’ve not upgraded the rods on the new engine that you’ve swapped everything over too? And the reason why your old engine failed was because you bent a rod?

Ahhh right, ok. So this engine is forged then. Ok. Best thing to do is scan with VCDS. Could be a multitude of things, like others have mentioned, faulty MAF, vacuum leak, etc.
