Hi All,

After having my clutch pedal snap on holiday last weekend i've had another stroke of luck. Whilst driving home tonight and under a wee bit of load a cough and loss of power! I slowed down and managed to get it home. At idle and driving it was clear i had a missfire. So I have had the coil packs off and checked the plugs Cyl 1 plug seemed a little wet compared with 2,3&4. So I tried another plug with no joy. I then tried unplugging No.1 with the car running and it made no differance, So i'm guessing coil pack is dead. My problem is i called around for a new one with little joy untill Monday or Tuesday :-(.

So People does this diagnosis sound about Right?? (I guess i could move the coil pack to check this tomorrow)

Does anyone know where would stock one in the south Birmingham area Listers are No Joy at any dealerships.

Long shot.... anyone around this area have a spare i could try/buy????

The Joys ay......... Any help appreciated

losing the love at the mo with the beast grrrrrr.

Ring your local Audi dealer, they are doing a free replacement on most coils at the moment, see the recall thread.

Dave try VW on stratford rd tomoz morning,pm your location, might be able to help out.

Forgot to say is it normal to have No light or Error when scanned with Vag Com????

Your initial diganosis sounded typical coilpack but I would've thought you should have a cylinder misfire fault code.

Yeah me 2 only wondering if 99 elec systems wern't as on the ball as later models.

Danger, Daves is a 99 and have bolt down coil packs, so they wont replace them.
