Coil light flashing

Like anyone I like to give the car a bit now and again! But if I do give it some the coil looking light that comes on when you start the car starts flashing and I loose all power till I turn the car on and off?

It acts as a engine management light on diesel turbo over boosting possibly or a misfire under load
