code 01376 engine speed signal for injection(IGNORE FIRST POST)

V6-2.5 TDI engine code AYM.
Went out yesterday 25 mile run car ran perfect.
An hour later got back in the car and it wouldn't start so got it towed.
Went to it this morning and it started first time so left it running to charge the battery but 30 minutes later it just cut out and won't start again.
Did a scan and the code 01376 engine speed signal for injection 37-00 faulty.
Any ideas welcome.

The ecu on top of the pump has a speed sensor that bolts onto the shaft and is connected via a ribbon cable. Sometimes that ribbon cable becomes brittle and breaks. There is also a crank sensor that can go faulty however the v6 tdi can run without that as it takes reference from the pump speed sensor- albeit at reduced performance. I believe that your injector pump will need a rebuild...

Thanks for the reply Chris.
Somebody on ukp said the EDC module on the injection pump.
It started again yesterday and ran for 25 minutes then cut out so it's heat related and i have seen stuff on the net about a transistor that goes in the EDC so that would sound about right.
