I have a leak bottom of the engine brake fluid, have to keep topping it up a little bit and clutch keeps going to the floor until I top it up, I been told might be the clutch slave and gear box needs coming out, my quistion is is the slave external or internal, external would be a great thing lol.

Audi a3 8p 2.0 tdi 140

6 gears

I’m gonna say it’s an external one (euros, gsf etc approx £20-30) however I’d be more worried about the brake fluid contaminating the clutch. There is a small seal that like to stay in the one slave when you take it out it’s really small and annoying but without it bye bye fluid. As for bleeding up the new slave I tried one of those one man bleeding kits the other day from Halfords I think it’s called gunnson easibleed or something like that. But it was awesome let me know if I can help further

Thanks for your reply just rang a big clutch specialist company telling me its internal and all duel mass has to be changed as well, all good for £750

Really internal? There’s an easy way to check though if you pop your bonnet and take you engine cover off you’ll be able to take a look down the side of your air filter box I just went to mine and took a couple of pics for you.

The first two are just to show location. In the third you can see what an external slave looks like there are two bolts that go in on the left hand side and a bleed nipple on the right. You might need a light to see it or pop the airfilter box out that would actually be easier.
