I have recently had a problem with my clutch pedal sticking half way. I had the same problem last year and had the master cylinder changed and it was fine.

My mechanic just brought my car back and he has changed the master cylinder again(under parts warranty luckily). He said that i seem to be getting air in the clutch fluid line somehow, does this sound like the slave cylinder is ****** as well.

He also mentioned that the release bearing and slave cylinder are all in one, inside the gearbox. i.e. gearbox out jobbie, not cheap!!

Please help someone!!

Interesting post Adam, I was thinking of changing the release bearing whilst everything is out for my gearbox woes, so I'd be interested in any advice from experienced members.

The master cylinder was about £50, apparently its not that hard to fit for a mechanic, cost me £100 all in but i get mates rates with a guy at vw.
