My car (A4 1.9TDi Quattro) is coming up to 90,000 miles on the original clutch

I know it depends on driving style but wondered what sort of life I should expect to still get from the clutch? The engaging of the clutch seems a little higher on the clutch pedal than it used to but is there anyway of correctly gauging the wear on this?

Finally, what'd be a ball park £££ figure on getting it replaced? Any other work that needs doing at the same time?

Cheers!

put it in 6th at 40mph and foot to the floor on the squirt pedal.

any slipping and your gonna have a bad time.

When my tdi went this went from minor slipping to completely shagged in about a week. Left me up M40 creek without a Clutch so to speak.

Beware dual mass flywheel goes too and it is a (($*@)*(&$*@& to change price wise.

I swapped out for a single mass and a stage 2 clutch. I had 210bhp from a 110 tdi so no suprises the clutch went at 60k.

I recommend single mass fly, the chatter is tollerable but the off line acceleration is soooo much more. Plus the stage 2 clutch and single mass fly was less than seat wanted for a Dual Mass. fitting was about 200-250

Any links to the Clutch and flywheel Nutkin? I've just had my 1.9 tdi q remapped so the clutch will need changing soon:)

Thanks Nutkn

What sort of price did you pay fr the whole lot - labour/fitting included?

Nutkin - don't tease us with stuff like that and then no links ;)

Where did you get the clutch and flywheel done? What is teh spec on a "stage 2 clutch"? which manufacturer?

it was stage 1 from awesome gti. they dont have anything for the a4 but it was a vr6 fly on a g60 stage 2 race clutch so i got lightened flywheel but swapped the cluth for a sachs one :). I dunno what people do for the pd lumps but i assume you must be able to single mass it some how just find one the same size. Im sure a chat with someone at awesome would help. i know theres a few options for the 1.8t

315 for the clutch kit, sold the g60 clutch to a mate for 80, the stage 2 clutch was 120 + 30 for ultra fast overseas delivery from usa, i just found the stats and it was good for 380lb/ft and 342bhp.

i then payed my local vag specialist 230 (200+vat)to fit :)

For the Audi i think youd be look at a helix setup for stage two at 845+vat this is based on the mk4 golf price i found.

what's the helix good for (torque-wise)... a 2.5TDI with some minor tweaks and remap is up to about 350lb/ft pretty quickly...

Sachs do a pretty strong one for the V6 tdi engine wich is rated at over 500Nm and able to take a lot of horsepower... Failing that they do a paddle one as well but its a biatch to drive in traffic and shudders like hell. Check their website. I had the stronger standard and the paddle ones as well so i tried them both on me old a4 v6 tdi...You will also need the uprated pressure plate as well and a new release bearing. If you still want heavy duty clutches, i suggest you check Dahlback Racing clutches as well. They are pricey but if they good enough for RS2 with up to 1200 Bhp i think they can sort you out with a clutch that could take a few Nm !
