Thinking of getting one of theses for Christmas as I just have Symphony radio in my A4 and miss DAB I had in my previous Golf GTI, also has touch screen and built in sat nav: http://www.alpine.co.uk/p/Products/audi-a4-a55141/x701d-a4r

Quite pricey but have managed to see it for £1599 delivered.

    Thoughts?

I had a demo of this impressive gear at Audi Driver International last Saturday. It is very simple to use & links into the car's CANBUS system so that all car and system setup functions are performed seamlessly.

I think even Audi dealers are considering these as it looks OE and adds serious value to cars on the forecourt.

....and before you ask.....my car has SatNav & DAB already....... and I really had to pay top dollar for a used car with these options.

Expensive as you say but looks very good. maybe worth looking at buying from Europe as it's likely to be cheaper.

Found a site in Germany that came out just under £1100 delivered after euro to pound conversion. However not sure if it would fit as new facia plate is for left hand drive? Might have to contact alpine UK and see what they can do?

So the 'r' designate is for right hand drive vehicles. Makes sense really. Shame it's £400 more expensive in the UK!

Got the price down to just over £1400. Before I go ahead does anyone know of a cheaper alternative system or a distributor than can supply at a not so eye watering price!

I have just fitted my Alpine X701D-A4r head unit to my 2010 avant b8 with standard speakers, not bose and I have some background noise I didn't have before, any ideas or do I need to upgrade speakers?

I'm still really interested in one of these and have a seller from Europe willing to do a 'A4R' model for 1450 euro delivered (about £1140).
Do you think it would be OK buying from Europe or paying the extra and buying from a uk seller
