very true my mate has the halfords one top notch...

Yup always used that halfords one of spot on and replace broken parts free of charge without any hastle too

out of interest do you need to take proof of purchase in?

Hi Ras,

I agree with the above. The halfrauds tools are a bit more expensive, but I have never broken one yet. You will get a decent selection of them plus a toolbox for £75-£100 and they will do good service for many years.

I have had a http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_162686_langId_-1_categoryId_165469 for 10 years now and it's still pefect.

Screwfix are pretty good for most items, but the quality of their cheap tools has to be questioned.

Also, I prefer to use a 1/2" drive for the larger sockets...

Cheers,

ive got the above halfords 150px set and its pretty decent. Quality is spot on but there are some compromises. the spanner edges are quite sharp, which isnt really ideal when trying to swing from them, and some of the sockets really should be 1/2" rather than 3/8" drive, ie from ~15mm to 20mm in the 12 spline chrome. I've killed a 3/8" ratchet before because of having to use it on those big sockets (usually with a large bit of scaffolding pole on the end)

Defo recommended though, just need to supplement it with a few choice 1/2" sockets to make it perfect. Ive got 16 and 18mm in 1/2" for mine.
