Changed battery now remote locking won't work

Hi, just changed the battery over in a friends A4, everything seems fine but they can no longer open their car with the key thob, any ideas? does it need to be recoded at a dealers or is there an easier option I can do here?

i had this the other day i opened the car with the key and the alarm went off as i had no remote locking.
I fired the engine up and then stopped it took out the key and the remote locking worked again.

oh and i put my back out lifting the battery!

Can i just ask when you removed the battery what was the condition of the bodywork in the surrounding area of the battery was it o.k?mine was rotten lots of corrosion im quite worried about it
Going to have a look at it tommorrow see if i van do anything with it

seemed in pretty good condition, can has only done 20k tho!

I replaced the battery a week ago, hoping that the central locking would kick back in but no joy yet

Daft question but do you have a 2nd key fob,is the battery o.k in the key fob?

spare seems to work but have swapped the battery round and doesn't seem to be the problem, strange one key works and not the other!
