Hi

I have a 1999 Audi A3. The central locking pump has been recently replaced and now the remote does not work and the centrally locking system needs to be recoded. Apparently, this can only be done by an Audi service centre. I spoke to my local dealer who said they would charge £95 per hour + VAT but, they could not put a time scale on how long it could take.
I can use the central locking and alarm manually but I am planning on selling the car and thought it would help it sell if the remote central locking was working too.
Do you think it is worth getting this done? And, if so do you know a way I could go about doing this without paying extortionate costs to Audi?
Many thanks
Iain

So does the key operate the central locking via the door lock and also start the car okay??

If so, then you can code the remote part of the key to the alarm yourself. Can't remember the proceedure off the top of my head, but it involves using an already coded key.

Just thought, the locking may have been set to not run from the remote. If so, then you would need to have it "coded" or find a local person with VAG-COM.

The key opens the door and starts the car but wont remotely lock. Thanks for the Advice!
