I don´t know what the problem is, but when I release the throttle the car sort of "jumps" or luggs a bit, and when I push it in again it does the same. Its just for a split second. If I release it softly it doesn´t happen. It´s kind of frustrating not knowing whats causing it. I have changed spark plugs, new air filter and cleaned the airflow meter. Any suggestion on what it can be?

It can be, try and wobble the engine by hand and see if it moves...

or with the handbrake on put it in gear, raise the clutch to biting point and see if the engine moves much. Do this if 1st and reverse

My bet is the dog bone bush though, which is the one at the bottom of the engine at the back

Okay, thanks! I will lift my car up and see if there´s anything loose

Is it this one you mean? Sorry if I´m missunderstanding you. I´m from Norway, so car parts on english isn´t my strongest thing to translate.

I think this has been replaced before I bought the car. The rubber bush seems fine, and its still shiny. I tried to woble the engine a bit, and there was teeny tiny movement, but not like there was something loose.

Ahh nevermind that question. I wouldn´t think it is a CV joint on the way out. I would probably feel it all the time then? The jump/lug comes only when I push and release the throttle. I would think it is something with the mixsture of petrol and air. But I have no clue..

I would check your lower suspension arms if the bushes are worn in them you would get movement from them when you accelerate and de accelerate

Check all your breather/vacuum pipes, I had a similar problem and the pipe to the diverter valve from the turbo outlet pipe had an hole in it, easy to replace.

I´ll check that out tomorrow! But this is not a turbo engine. 1.6 petrol

But will it be that much movement in low speeds? Because I feel it whatever speed and gear I´m in.

Yer if it is lower suspension arms there would be movement at what ever speed your doing. Mine was doing a similar thing when I first got it

I think Ian could be heading down the right path with the arms, don't know why I didn't think of that!

I don't think it's a engine/fueling problem as you suggest purely because it happens when you let off the throttle as well...

I had the exact same symptoms, would jerk on the motorway under load for a split second, and when releasing throttle, but not if i released the throttle slowly. I didn't know what it could be so i took it to garage, they replaced a worn engine mount, and problem was solved! I'd say that's your starting point buddy. :thumbs up:

Thanks for the info mate! If I only knew where all the engine mounts are localized. I guess I have some searching to do!
But if its the engine mounts... Do I have take out the motor to replace the bad one/ones?

Think there is only two in the engine bay, you can see them quite easily. The one that i had replaced is where the engine attaches to the chassis under the air box / battery area on the right side of the engine. Just open the bonnet and take a look. Won't be an engine out job if it's the same mount, my garage did it in an afternoon i think. Probs just lift the engine slightly to take the weight off it. Good luck!

Thank you so much. I will check it out when I got the time. Want to avoid going to the shop, I want to learn as much as possible myself.

Okay, so now I´ve checked the enginemounts and they seem fine. Was under the car to look at the bushes. Both sides on the steering rod, the bushes are not round, half the side of them are kind of bending inwards.. Can this be the problem or are these suppose to look like this?

It's hard to tell exactly what you're describing, can you take a picture?

Really you want to get a big leaver bar (or something), get in in all sorts of places and see if anything moves

Here is a picture of what I mean. I´ve been around places underneath the vehicle to find loose parts, but everything seems tight to me.. But maybe these pictures is the problem?

Did you check the bottom arms as I don't think track rod end would cause this. They would cause your steering to feel all over the place and possible make your car pull to either the left or right.

I have checked everything for movement. I think I´m gonna ask a certified Audi mechanic shop for clues..

Sorry guys for bad info. But I did check the enginemounts one more time today, and I could clearly see movement when I pushed the engine around a bit. Going to order new mounts to see if the problem goes away! I´ll keep you updated :) I appreciate all the help I´ve gotten so far!

Knew it! Sounds just like the issue i had. Never thought it'd be something as simple as an engine mount but it was :) Good luck dude!

Like I said in the first comment then? . . ha ha! Glad you found the culprit though :icon thumright:
Haha yeah man, I didn´t know how much I should move around the engine and was afraid to push it to hard. But now I´m glad I did it! Thanks mate! :)

So now I've changed the right engine mount, but I can still feel the car jumping when I press and release the throttle..
Should I change all of them or what do I do? They are quite exspencive so I don't want to buy it just to see that it wasn't the problem.

Been having a similar problem, upgraded all the mounts (powerflex on dog bone and THS on left and right) but still getting the problem. Seems to have developed a little rattle felt in the pedals and clutch is becoming snatchy so I'll fitting a new single mass flywheel next month, hopefully this might help???

It gets more complex changing the flywheel? I don´t think I can do that by myself.

Will let u know if it fixes the rattle

hi, i have the same problem as you, but when i disconnect the MAF sensor and take the car to a ride it's work fine, sorry for my poor english
