hi all, first post here!

i've just had the battery out my A3 after it was undervoltage.
when ive replaced the battery i have had numerous faults on the car. when ive used an OBD2 connector ive got the following which wont reset

Parking steering assist:
13637426

Airbags:
9451547
1050117

Instrument cluster:
1048578

ABS:
00297 (transmission vehicle speed sensor)

Power steering:
16130
19204

Heater and AC
263682

Engine
07150
17158

has anyone else had this problem and if so how did they go about resetting them? i'm wondering if ive blown a fuse, i just have no idea which one it could be. all the ones i've checked so far seem to be fine.

any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

i also get a fault: system start: safety system!
see owners manual...
i have had a look and i cant see anything about it!

The car basically had been reset when the case is disconnected from the battery.

These should go away by driving the car as it's "relearning" the modules.

You state you removed the battery due to low voltage and then charged it.....is the battery possibly faulty or damaged, what voltage does it show after charging. Also is there a reason for the battery having low voltage in the first place....short, unable to hold a charge?

battery is now sitting at 12V we originally charged it as it was sitting at 11V and thought that may be the cause for concern. however we were mistaken. we did originally have the safety system fault on so i'm fairly confident that its what is stopping it.
nothing was done before removing the battery. just got in the car turned the key and that fault was on.

OK, you've got a lot of faults on independent systems/ECUs there. Either a lot of electronics is shot (that's a technical term!) or there's a systemic fault. It might be a faulty relay that's failing to power up a number of circuits, one or more fuses have blown or a CAN gateway might be down. Low voltage could also explain this.

The safety system is most likely to be the airbags or maybe the ABS, although I thought you could crank with those faults present. There are some components that sit around the powertrain ECU and engine that form part of the powertrain safety systems that, if failed, would prevent crank, but this feels more of a vehicle wide issue.

Unless you can get someone to run a detailed diagnostic, I think you're going to need to get a specialist look at it. I'd be really interested to hear what the problem turns out to be.

Have you put a multitester across the battery terminals - engine off - to check the voltage?

The reason I ask is that if the battery is actually at 12V (i.e. 12.0V) then it's only holding between 40 and 50% of its capacity. That might not be enough for the car to start.

I know it sounds perverse, but a fully-charged 12V battery in good nick should actually read 12.75V across the terminals, and quite possibly up to 13V.

If the battery is showing 11V it's got less than 10% charge in it. Any less than 11V and it's as flat as a fart (or dead), and won't jump-start a glow-worm.
