So, after a conversation in my local last week about car tax, I went online for a look and its still not very clear to me. I have not found anything on here about this either but does anyone know exactly how these new prices are going to affect us?

Currently, my 2010 A3 costs £30 a year to tax, does this mean in November when I renew my tax I have to pay £140 a year?

No. Only affects cars REGISTERED from April 1 2017.

My mate reckons if you buy a car after the 1st it affects all cars. He said it would be £500 a yr then £140 after but all depends on emissions level. Sure he got this totally wrong.

Not much incentive to buy a new car then.

Might cancel my order an get a 15yr old land rover .... certainly wouldn't by an electric one now!

Yes, buy an old Landy, no depreciation if you buy a Defender, prices are steadily going up.
