Hi everybody, unsure if it’s just me but I’m tempted to cancel my A4 order as the dealership are being a bit anal with a few things

I do not want GAP etc for the car (I have found it cheaper elsewhere) still trying to sell it to me though!?

I also asked when I purchased the A4 if I could have it detailed by somebody who actually knows what they are doing (obviously I’m paying for this) “Yes, that’s fine” Now I’m being told I can’t have the car detailed as it’s by a third party and it’s to risky for Audi?

Just take delivery of the car without the exterior/interior prep and have it detailed at your convenience..

Yep, BS. With regard to GAP ... I left this to the day of collection and handover. They will ask to sell you GAP.
I had my iPad with online quote from ALA at about half the price of Audi . The sales guy asked me about it ..told him I had an offer .. showed him it on iPad .. he matched it there and then. So it keeps dealer interested in your service but you don’t lose out.

I also had mine detailed separately (ceramic coated). Just tell the dealer you don’t want autoglym (it’s not a lasting solution) .. just take cas as is (normal prep) .. the detailer will them do the rest. There is no damage, they are trying hard sell. Resist the autoglym or similar stuff the dealer sells . Go to a specialist detailer for proper job. ( takes 2 to 3 days )
A ceramic coating with full prep will cost you about £450 .

As I posted on another thread, the autoglym lifetime kits sell for £50 on ebay and I doubt if the dealership pays more than half for them..

Thanks for the replies, I actually have someone lined up to do the coating but Audi won’t let him have the car before I collect.

I’m massively into detailing so that new A4 has got to be right. I will let the dealer know I don’t want any Autoglym or car prep before hand.

ALA coming out half the price of the dealer quote.

They’ll only let you do the coating once you’ve signed for the car.. I can see their point on that, it’s fair enough...

Your normal fully comp insurance should cover you for a new for old car in the first year so you won’t need GAP for the first year.

As for detailing, just ask for it not to be touched and then drive it straight to your detailer.

Agreed, if the car is damaged in any way until Audi have legally handed it over they are responsible. I can see their point..

I guess I just got annoyed, when I was sat in the dealership I was told it wouldn’t be a problem and now things have changed.

It’s ok though, when the time comes I will tell them how I need to collect it lol.

I have taken my last 2 Audi's from the forecourt with all the protective covers on as it came off the transporter. I asked the salesman to contact me when the car arrived so the bonnet and hatch covers could be removed for inspection by myself, then replaced straight away. The vehicles were then taken to the detailer where we took off the covers for him to work his magic.

I did my own and the prep products and protection like CarPro or GTechniq are £350 alone!!!

I paid £350 for correction polish, ceramic to exterior including wheels and interior protection, based in Norfolk.

I'm sure there's much more expensive detailers out there and maybe depending on where you live. If it was an older car and needed more paint correction on the polish stage then it would have been more, my guy is very experienced and does many exotic cars over Norfolk and beyond, cannot fault him and for £350 (plus a good tip) it's a massive bargain!

No, mine was detailed for £450 as well. If the car doesn't need so much prep then that's the price I am prepared to pay, not £650-700 at all. Those are probably for a full correction which a new car shouldn't really need..

Yep, my car was gone for 2 days, would probably need 3 days if some serious correction needed but £350 all in and worth every penny. Not sure how much the products cost but I'm sure detailers can get this at trade price and he's making decent profit to make that price work still.

It just depends upon what's done and the condition of the car, I only really needed, and wanted, was a new car detail to the bodywork. Of course you can spend the money if you wish, just depends on what you want from the options list. Labour costs vary too from one part of the country to another....

Mine was a new car detail. £350 for all the prep, sealent/protection products including seperate products for the bodywork, glass, interior and wheels.
