Car insurance - how much?

Hi all

2008 3.0tdi b8 avant, no mods
Fully comp, 8000 miles a year, parked on driveway in reasonable area
Worth £5k
Main driver 36yrs old, 15yrs no claims
Named driver the same
No convictions/previous claims
Only £100 excess in total

Including legal cover, courtesy car etc

I’m being quoted £350 with A-Plan

Is that about as good as it gets please?
Compare the market shows £310 ish with a £600 excess. Was hoping £250 might be out there...

I have always found adrian Flux and Green Light the cheapest about for my old B8 A4 when modified. I paid the same as you for stage 2 modified (air ride, wheels, dpf deletes and bunch of body work bits). They give a forum discount hence I have tagged the site sponser above.

However last year moved to Admiral with my S5 as they nearly halved the adrian flux quote price whilst still covering mods (because i jumped from insurance group 20 odd to 42! when upgrading the car), albeit it won't be like for like as a modified specialist would offer

I also know 3 others who have moved to Admiral, they seem to be the cheapest on the market in general at the moment.
If you have a dash cam, when you call they drop the premium some more too, plus if you call quoting a quote from Compare the Market, they drop a bit more for just calling directly.

2010 Audi A4 Avant S Line 170bhp - We paid £310 for this year with 10 years NCB, £100 excess and 10k miles a year, social and commuting to one place of work.

Went with the AA as Admiral couldn’t get anywhere near my quote so switched after been with them for 3 years.

It’s cheapest I’ve ever paid to insure a car

Do a quote on-line on the Aviva website. They're not on comparison sites but were the cheapest I could find a couple of weeks ago - £217 on a 2012 2.0 TFSI Black Edition Quattro Avant (very similar circumstances as OP except 57years old). Looks like a very good policy and you can pay monthly for no additional cost. Way cheaper than Adrian Flux - who I was with previously.
