cant open rear door

hi all i dont post on this platform as i have a b5 A4, however my brother has a 1999 A6 and he cannot open the OSR door either from inside or outside if he tries and open the handle from the inside the little knob pops up but still cant open..

i think we would need to take the door card off can this be done with the door closed?

any ideas

Try messing around with the key in the ignition and disconnect the battery, lock and unlock the car using the key and the button inside that car, i had the same problem with the front door on mine and fixed it somehow messing with the unlock button inside.

You'll find that the deadlock is stuck which is part of the lock mechanism/catch. Stand next to the car and give the door a good bang on the area where the latch unit is and at the same time operate the remote fob quickly locking and unlocking. [Check the other side as a reference point] If this doesn't get it free the panel has to come off but it will have to be destroyed. Once off a sharp knock on the mechanism should free it.

I got the opposite one of my rear doors wont lock

It goes trought the motions but just does't lock or operate the footwell lights and i am dubious its working on the alarm.

I got a lock from ebay so will fit that when it arrives hopefully thatll sort it.
