Can you do an EGR delete without using a blanking plate?

I have a V6 3.0 tdi 2008. Was wondering if I can do an EGR delete without using a blanking plate or better to do with blanking plate then egr delete.

Yes, as long as the valves are working properly a decent solution will just keep them closed, always better to block them off though if it's possible.

I think it affects dpf regens when deleted.
I wanted to do mine but thought of dpf costs I changed my mind.
