I was thinking, I fixed the bobbly suede on the seats with sand paper, maybe I could sand the wheel !

You can get repair stuff but your hand will be in constant contact and probably rub it off, best of luck if you do though.

If I ruin it, I can always get a new wheel with stereo controls on too.

You can get leather repair kits where you sand it down, then repaint the leather and seal it. I've done it on leather jackets but not on steering wheels, although there's no reason why it won't work if degreased properly.

failing that, a retrim is not that much...

Thanks for the replies, I'll look into leather repair kits. Any ideas on the phone holder, I can't find any images of this sort of mount.

I've used the Gliptone kit on BMWs and Jags in the past with great results. I had a spray on kit for the jacket which used an airbrush. Worked well too.

You could pick up a better condition steering wheel for little money off eBay and about £12 from a breaker as recently bought a leather three spoke for wife's mk5 Golf from a local breaker

Could anyone tell me a little more about the phone holder ? All the ones I've seen on google images look different.

Is it not just a surface to mount any suction cup holder onto? Could be for GPS, phone, anything with a suction cup mount.

That's not an Audi OEM phone holder..

If it's just clipped in, I'd remove it.
If it's screwed in, then bad luck. Unless you don't mind looking at screw holes.

(Although those can be filled and rendered nearly invisible by a specialist).

It must be clipped in behind the radio. That's what made me think it was OEM because it's well fitted.

I might adapt it to use with my iPhone.
