Hi all just got home and as I started reversing to park I got a large clink and a lot of grinding noise
Promptly killed the engine and just pushed the car in and on closer inspection the cambelt tensioner pulley is touching where the engine mount passes it and has made a very small notch in it
It's very hard to see how this may have happened
Just one thing after another lol all other issues sorted today was meant to be my first complete day of a fully sorted car... Guess not!

My guess is that the front engine mount bolt has snapped and where the rear bolt goes into the block has broken away... Same happened to me, have a read of this:
http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/index....eed-it-least-might-be-forced-to-brake.204822/

And don't worry I didn't have to break it in the end! Diesel geeks do a block fix fit:
http://www.dieselgeek.com/VW_cracked_engine_block_repair_brackets_s/1828.htm

Just DON'T try and start it again till it's fixed!!! . . I did and bent most my exhaust valves, still not exactly sure how it lost timing from when I parked up tho.....

What ever it is, good luck sorting it!

Thanks for the reply and yes it looks somewhat the same as that I'm going to have a look at those links thanks

It seems you are right the front bolt snapped and the rear has come away can't get a drill any where near to use easy outs I just want to pull my hair out the cambelt has a small cut in it and the ****** thing was only changed 10k miles ago not a happy bunny do u reckon I'd get away with changing just the belt this time as the tensioner and water pump were done 10k ago too? Just trying to save dough
