What would be a reasonable price for a cambelt change on a 2002 A4 quattro 1.8T sport by an independant garage? My local VW specialist has offered around the £300 mark, with new pulleys and tensioners. Also is a good idea to get the water pump changed? if so, how much should this up the bill? the car has done 53000 miles.

Cheers.

aye change the water pump for a metal one while your on . buy it yourself from someone like eurocarparts and get them to put it on buring the cambelt change

Thats not a bad price just recently had my cambelt metal impeller water pump and full service inc pollen filters for £440inc vat by local VAG specalist. so I would say your quote isnt to far off the mark

I have had my cambelt changed & a major service including fuel filter etc done today at my local ind audi spec & it cost £418. I am pleased with the work they did as they actually changed the bits i asked them to ( Unlike on my golf @ my local VW garage on its last service ).
