Evening all

Just a quick questiin. Is it OK for them to rattle for a cpl seconds on start up then go quiert ..

It's not terminal, and the engine is not going to self destruct.... It will most likely be the top right hand tensioner (drivers side) Again it's a common failure and can be done with the engine in place. If your good with the spanners then it's a DIY job, otherwise a local VW specialist should be able to do the job.

Yea I can do it that's not a problem thanks for the info I'm new to audi,s subarus not a problem lolI just don't want the tentioner to **** it's self if ya know what I mean for the time being it goes dead quiet after a second or two

Forgot to ask ..what sort of money are the tentioners I take there main dealer only ???

I would only get a dealer part, you just don't know the quality of aftermarket versions, and I don't believe they are big money. You will also need a new seal again dealer only. It would be better to get it done sooner rather than later, and if it gets worse then definitely get it done.

How many miles has the car done ?. I believe you can get the parts cheaper aftermarket.

It's done 113000 miles I'll give audi a ring tomorrow see how much they are .my sons a mechanic so I'll see it he can get them cheaper trade and all that lol
