Hi all, please help! Wound the passenger front window down today and heard a "clunk", after which the window wouldn't go back up!
Managed to lift the window back to the top by hand, but it keeps dropping again, and if someone wanted to get into the car, they could just push the window down!
I rang a local garage that said, without looking at it, that it will need a new regulator. £260 all in for the fix (£125 for the part plus 2 hours labour).
I can see a few DIY guides on the saloon, but none on the cabriolet. Has anyone managed to fix this themself, and if so how? I can see repair kits on eBay for £15 but online advice suggests that these are no good?
obviously need to get it sorted ASAP, but none of the advice online mentions that a duff regulator allows your window to just fall down, so I am wondering if it is some other problem?

many thanks in advance for any help
Paul

The clips holding the glass to the regulator could have snapped.
Take the door card off and have a look.

If the clips are broken and the cable is fine you can just replace the clips.
The regulator failing is quite common.

So am I right in saying that a snapped window regulator cable wouldn't allow the glass to just slide up and down like mine is doing?
