So, on May 20th I took the plunge (after considering a 120d M-Sport) and placed an order for a spanking new A3 Sportback 2.0TDI 184PS Quattro S-Line S-Tronic. Over three weeks later I was given build week 30, not too bad I thought, should have it by mid August.

Build week 30 arrived and I got a call from my salesman to say that my build week had been pushed back to 38 due to a "restriction on the engine". He seemed as confused as I was and couldn't explain exactly what this means.

So, I'm coming to terms with having to wait another 2 months, but, can anyone explain what a "restriction on the engine" means? Is it simply a shortage of a part? Has anyone else's 184 order been delayed?

Bummer sorry to hear that !

Had that engine in my Leon FR it's a cracker. Not sure what they mean by restriction maybe it is some sort is shortage as its used across the group.
