Hi,

Unfortunately I am one of those individuals who simply can't stand buzzes and rattles - yes, a first world problem but this one was annoying the hell out of me.

So - for a while I have had a really annoying buzzing sound coming from the roof console, around the area of the SOS button. Certain road surfaces set it off, even some newly surfaced roads and it was starting to get to me. Not a rattle as such, more a buzzing ‘plastic on plastic’ resonance. Anyway, I decided something needed to be done.

The process for removing the console is detailed in the first image

And I purchased the trim removal tool to make life easier, either way quite a lot of pulling is required.
Process further detailed in these links:

It requires an uncomfortable amount of effort but it does come away (second image)

I found that the noise came from the interior motion detector module (in the centre of the photograph and third image). It is clipped in place with a couple of plastic clips but was not clamped down tight, it is loose enough for certain road surfaces to cuase a vibration and the buzzing noise.

I unclipped the module and placed a couple of adhesive pads underneath – the noise has now gone.
