Hi all, I've recently joined as I'm looking to buy an audi a4. Would like a bit of info on common problems and things to look out for when buying.
The model I am looking at is the a4 s line 1.8t on a 54 plate with the multitronic gearbox. It's got full audi history and only 51,000 miles on the clock and cambelt done 8000 miles ago.

There are lots of threads on this, off the top of my head:

1.8T oil sludge problems, from wrong oils and longlife servicing. Budget to change the oil pick up when you get it.
Multitronics suffer clutch problems, make sure the recall has been done.
Usual A4 problems, slow wipers, flooded battery chamber, central locking problems from broken door hinge wires, aircon etc

Ok cheers, sure i heard something about oil pump problems is that right?
Also how could I tell if the recall has been done?

Speak to a dealer with the reg plate is probably the best way.

The oil pump lick up gets blocked with sludge and can starve the engine of oil.
