I am buying European 2018 RS3. Sedan or hatchback.

Are there any known issues on the facelifts to be careful?

Is it true that cars after August 2018 have fake sound in the cabin?

Fake sound isn’t true I don’t believe.

Inside edge of front tyres wearing very badly is a known fault.

AudiNutta, even with the wheel alignment, they still wear out?

What about high oil consumption? How many have experienced this issue?

Checking my oil every few months (had the FL now for 20months) and it goes thru approx 1/2 litre every 6months....

Just go buy one.

Some owners just like moaning about things all the time.

Never had an issue with tyres wearing funny (just changed mine see another thread)

Fake noise fake news on a 5 pot soundtrack, trust me it’s all real.

Had some squeal develop on mine at 5K miles but easily sorted with a front disc upgrade/swap.

Sooo many issues you need to be thinking SQ5!

Wait for it...

Try one before you comment!

Had our SQ5 now for 2.5-weeks and guess what, our 2011 RS3 ain't turned a wheel or had the cover off! And for sure, I wouldn't be looking at a 2018 RS3: you got an issue with an RS3, Audi UK/GmbH just don't wanna know...

Just sayin'

See the Pirelli tyre defects thread,

Wheel alignment perfect, tyres ruined

I’ve had no issues whatsoever - brakes have never squealed.
I have even tyre wear and the paint on my exhaust hasn't flaked.
Mine doesn't use any oil either.

I have the trade mark exhaust rattle on startup though.

Is this a brand new SQ5? And you’d recommend then?

Regarding artificial sound in the cabin. A lot of VAG cars have this, Porsche, Focus RS has it. That's why I am asking.
But even if it was there, it is a easy fix on the VAG cars.

Nope, considered the 2019 ones and driven several this year, including the petrol, to evaluate; no, the 2016 326bhp, 650Nm @ 1400rpm, is the one I wanted - having driven several before at our Stafford Audi dealership days - and I found one:

SQ5 Plum Pudding

Within 5-minutes of touching, DOC, it was purchased - and I've not driven my RS3 (BLUEY) or our TT since...

See: SQ5 Arriving soon - 10 days and counting down - to a place near me...

Can't believe that was posted March 22nd

What grade are you using 0W-30 or 5W-30?

My S3 drinks 0W-30 but switching back to 5W-40 and it doesn't use a drop.

I saw an Audi bulletin stating tfsi engines should be using 5W-40.

Ow-30 as provided by Audi when i bought the car.

I've a 6 page PDF from Erwin online that lists all the approved 50400/50700 oils

There are only a handful of 0w-30 approved oils, Castrol Edge professional longlife III being one of them.

No 5W-40 oils are listed for use under 50400/50700

Interesting that the 2.5 Daza SSP TTRS document lists 0W-30 as suitable oil.

My car was serviced last month and I’m not sure if Audi used 0W or 5W-30. All I know is that it said “Mobil Super 3000 formula v.”

Can you mix 0W and 5W?

I have break squeal but not all the time, had no issues with the Pirelli tyres, still perfect with even wear at 10,000mls, but my exhaust paint has flaked a bit.
But inn the big picture this is one amazing motor, so much that my daughter has ordered one.
She is a petrol head as well.

5W-40 is 502.00 for fixed service regimes, there should be a reference to it in the handbook.

Quantum Platinum and Shell Helix Ultra are both 502.00.

I use the shell stuff in the S3. Once the stealer put 5W-30 in mine and it drank it like nobody's business. After several months of constantly topping it up, I dropped it and refilled with 5W-40 and it hasn't used a drop since.

There is no 5w-40 recommendation for the 2.5 Daza engine.

What does the handbook say with regards to engine oil for fixed servicing?

Does it mention 502.00?
