Build - Delivery Dates?

I ordered my new A3 S-Line on 6th November, and was told delivery would be May/June 2022, most likely June.

Today I’ve received an email saying that the car is now ‘In build’. Does anyone know roughly how long it takes from the start of the build to the delivery?

I’ve read a few posts here and there that say up to 4 weeks, up to 6 weeks and some around 3 months etc.

Any help would be appreciated?

Well I ordered 10th June and my car was built last week. It’ll be with me mid January. But don’t hold your breath as some people have been waiting since March and still haven’t got a build week. You’ll be a lucky one if it has a 3/4 month turn around from order to delivery. On the basis it’s in build I would realistically say Feb/March delivery as the Christmas period will push everything back further like the shipping, build etc.

I also had this e-mail today after ordering my RS3 early November as well. Massively surprising since the dealer told me to expect 6-8 months, perhaps even more. Maybe a sign of things improving...

The RS3 will be a priority over a standard even top spec A3 due to the profit margins. Although how they have prioritised new orders is shockingly bad at Audi as they don’t actually seem to follow any pattern, seems to be luck of the draw. My original delivery was mid October.

I had this text in September, from a June order. My car is still nowhere to be seen and has an unconfirmed build week of 3.

I wouldn't hold your breath sadly. I think it's Audi pulling the wool over your eyes.

Absolutely, but I was still surprised it came forward so much. Just a quick look through the RS3 forum suggests many people who ordered a long time before I did are still waiting for a build date.

Yes people from February this year are still waiting. It’s crazy. Part of me feels like I should have ordered the RS3 and I may of had it by now.

How long have you been waiting? S3 or A3?

EDIT: Scratch that, just seen your post above!

No worries. It’s the A3 edition 1 s-tronic I’ve gone for. January needs to hurry up.

UPDATE: I’ve just had a reply from my Audi dealer that the car has already been built and will be with the dealer next month, January 2022. 5 months earlier than the expected date of June 2022.

Some great news to end the year!

That’s good news but Audi take the absolute p**s with how they’ve sorted orders. Glad you’ve not had to wait long but the Audi new car experience has been crap and their customer service just as bad.

Chill out man. There’s plenty of people who’ve been waiting much longer.

I ordered my A3 S-45 TFSI e S-line Competition on 20th September 2021 and chased my company car provider again today and still no build week set. I did read somewhere that Audi may be prioritising electric/hybrids to bring down their emission figures. Not sure that is true or not as looking at lots of threads, its seems to be more the case that Audi have not got a clue on what they are or how they re prioritising.

UPDATE: My car docked into Sheerness on 8th Jan. I have spoken to my dealer and he has confirmed the car will leave the docks on 15th Jan, and be delivered to him either 17th or 18th Jan. Really, I can pick the car up from then but I would prefer weekends so will be picking it up on 22nd Jan.

And so, the countdown starts!

That’s hopeful for me then knowing a shipment has come in. I was told 3rd/4th week January for delivery as mine was built the 1st week in December so fingers crossed mine was also on that shipment.

I ordered my 35 tfsi s-line back in September 2020 and I didn't get my hands on it until March 2021. They promised 3 months from order to collection, it doubled but in the midst of Covid I couldn't really complain.

Clearly you've been one of the lucky ones - enjoy!

It really is luck of the draw. I ordered at the start of June 2021 and I’m expecting delivery in around 2 weeks time. How do you find the 35 tfsi engine?

If I'm being honest...it's ok. It's not horrible, it's not brilliant.

I've come from mainly diesel cars so it's feels a little gutless in comparison and doesn't enjoy being revved hard. This Evo engine suffers with cold startup jerkiness so expect this as it's a 'feature' apparently and the software update doesn't eradicate it. Fuel economy hasn't been best ever, running an average of 30-35mpg.

Positives are it's smooth and refined most of the time and it's punchy enough for what I use it for.

That’s good to know. I’m coming over from a fiesta ST which was running around 220hp which was very punchy when needed. Owned that since new in 2014 so the Audi will be a nice change.

You'll appreciate the jump in refinement...not sure it'll entertain you anywhere near as much though

I opted to go away from the ‘hot hatch’ this time round so not to fussed about the less performance. This will be the nicest car I’ve owned to date out of my previous 3 so very much looking forward to it.

Congrats, enjoy, fingers crossed I’ll be getting mine within the next 2 weeks. Getting updates from my dealer is like drawing blood from a stone.

Since Audi dropped the tracking for new vehicles and now they are no longer providing updates when you ask via Direct Message, if you get a dealer who isnt helpful then its most frustrating.

I know the feeling. I was told 2 weeks after my car was built that it had a confirmed build date. Then heard nothing for 6 weeks until they told me it was in transit to the UK (They only came to me as I was on at them for updates) then last week I had a call to say I can collect Thursday of this week. If it’s anything like my experience the only real communication you’ll get is about a week before you collect it.

Not sure what Audi's thought process was behind dropping the order tracker, probably due to the global shortages they wanted to stop customers kicking off, but ultimately it only then puts all the pressure onto the dealers. A year ago when order tracker was still working it was such a nice feature to have, feels like going backwards.

I ordered Audi A3 Sportback Edition 1 in Daytona Gray in October 2021. Audi kept postponing my Build date and it’s now Week 38. Just wondering whether some of you ordered this year have your cars delivered already. How long do I have to wait for mine?
