Broken coil?

Coming out of a roundabout the other day, I depressed then let my foot off the accelerator and the car lost power and shuddered momentarily. I thought the turbo outlet pipe had come loose again, but turbo/boost were still working however the "EPC" light came on and the car felt a bit less powerful.
Spoke to the dealer and he immediately said "one of your coils has broken that operates a cylinder, it happens quite often on S3/Q5....your engine is now operating on less cylinders so don't push the engine, just bring it in and we will fix it in 30 mins".
It's in now getting fixed so will update thread later....but just wondering if anyone else has had the same "loss of power/shuddering" and "EPC" light come on to anything similar?

On my GTI and my R but most are getting the failure a few years after purchase. It's a VAG thing

ok thanks guys...yes i did have to keep my cool when it happened....hoping it doesn't happen again soon as I insisted they replaced all coils while they were at it

No, I don't think so Rob....but will keep an eye out....and if I find anything I will post it in here

@Rob2k68 I had seen these before now I remembered, but not sure if these are good for the 8v S3....might be worth researching
