the car is a 2001 Y plate) A4 2.0 multitronic saloon.

if we pour warm water on the screen to de-ice it, the water runs into the brake servo/reservoir area, then when you drive the car the brakes fail altogether (until you let them dry out)

took it into the vag specialist who dried it out, but then the next time the car got all snowed up we had to pour water on (and the snow melting will have contributed to the problem) the same thing happened.

the specialist guy said its a common fault on a4's and passatts. is there anything can be done about this? this is another in a long string of major design flaws we have experienced on this car, none of which i've experienced on other "lower badge" cars!!!

hi
never heard of this or understand why or what is happening ?
also not really sure about the string of problems on your car , all cars have problems i see a lot more french cars in my trade than german ones with problems.

Your servo is on its way out for good mate?! I had the same thing with mine but just rain water. The is almost a trough below the windscreen that provides a home for the servo. This has a small rubber plug to let out the water it collects, it gets blocked and fills up the trough. The was a recall on our cars to remove this to stop it filling up.
Its my understanding that the is also a small electric servo (backup) that’s good for light use that makes the problem appear to be more intermittent than it is. (I could be wrong on that.
I called Audi and they said that the car had been out of the dealer network too long :sign_unfair: for them to help with the cost (4years) as i use local VAG guy but you may have more luck.

Note to all: register your car with Audi customer service, you will need to go to Steelers with V5. This is for when the is a recall contact details, I missed out as I had not done this!!!!
