Brake disc size

Can't seem to get a definite answer for this one unfortunately!

I have a 1.6 A3 sport 2003
I've just bought some discs and pads all round, rear ones are fine but after looking online I've found that fronts come in different sizes for the A3...
I bought 280mm but there's also a 256 one.

Couple of questions
1. Anyone know if 280 is correct because I don't want to take them out just in case I need to return them.
2. Can they fit if they're bigger?

Check the build code sticker for the car. On the options list sticker there will be a 3 digit code.
256mm is 1LQ and 280mm is 1LS or 1ZP .

280mm discs won't fit on a 256mm car as the calipers are different.

Ahh damn, there is a bit on it that says 1LQ!

288 mm (that you get on the 1.8 Turbo's wont fit since it has a different caliper, but 280 mm FSIII ones should fit

All good now, went back to euro and they swapped them for me got the 256mm
