Hi

I am going to fit new brakes to the audi but my motor factors supplied 2 different sizes.

My specific model is a 2001 1.6 a3 sport.

I have the 208 solid discs and the 288 vented.

Thanks

Basically i need to fit new front disc's. All i need to know are what size they are, 280mm or 288mm? i have both sizes an need to get a set returned before the end of the week.

The code which specifies which brake setup you have is on the information sticker in the service book/boot floor (eg. 1LS). You can cross reference it with the codes here: Audi A3/S3 Brake Discs - Audi A3/S3 Brake Pads
You could also stick your finger through the spokes in the wheel and feel to see if the discs you have are vented or not. It is best to do this whilst the car is stationary.

I was under the impression only turbo models got the 288's, and the smaller engined cars got the 256 or 280mm disks.

They are ALL vented though... No A3 has solid disks on the front.

I agree with Kev, it definitely won't have the 288's on there.

Either 256 or 280's. my mates 1.6 mk4 golf had 256's.

Best thing to do is whip a wheel off and measure though!

My mistake, i stand corrected it was the 256's vented with solid discs on the back. Apologies.
