Having previously owned a Merc S Class and more recently a Range Rover Vogue 3.6TDV8 (both rust around the arches for anyone considering purchasing ;)... I decided I needed to up my MPG and burn less holes in the Ozone.

After much debate settled on a used Audi A6 2.0 TDI S line 190 Ultra. Bought from local Audi dealer over at Silverlink as an approved used Audi - guys there were brilliant so can highly recommend.

Anyway it started off life as a pretty bog standard version - no modifications whatsoever. Pics for anyone interested:

Not a fan of chrome as I find they're a PITA to look after and also because the car looked almost identical to every other A6 where I live and at work. IF an RS6 saloon was on the market that would have been the one for me but sadly not and to convert an s line to an RS6 look looks expensive.....

So looked up a few local people and decided to:

  • Do a full chrome delete on the exterior (makes it look more Black Edition). So vinyl wrapped the grille, fog inserts, window surrounds, boot lip. All done locally by a firm in the space of around 4-5hrs. The only thing is that I read afterwards that vinyl wrap needs to be cleaned specially so it's still a PITA to make sure it doesn't lose it's gloss and not to pressure wash too closely to avoid it lifting. Had also purchased gloss black logo rings and badges for front and rear which were changed at the same time. The side badges were removed and have a matte black set which i'll lacquer and fix at some point

  • Tint rear windows - bargain at £99. Lad owns his own tinting business close by and job is spot on. Also got rear lights tinted (£40). All are medium tint as limo tint is too dark and the one I went for was the equivalent of the factory tint. Bit on the fence with the rear lights being tinted. He also does 3D number plates - was tempted but at £45 a set I thought i'd save my pennies. Total time was around 2-3hrs.

  • Powder coat alloys and calipers - place recommended by Audi dealer and was one I was considering anyway. Top bunch of guys. Went with piano black wheels and red calipers (asked for yellow but they said they had done a set recently and weren't happy with the colour). Red looks a bit of a standard colour - they'll do for me. Had to leave the car in for a day and a half. The centre caps on the wheels will also be changed over to black gloss ones once received (off Ebay)

So car now looks like:

Waiting to get a front lip spoiler and rear boot lip spoiler fitted (currently with a local firm to paint to match and will then fit)

Also waiting on wheel spacers to be fitted all round (12mm at front 15mm at back).

Thinking about a Revo remap to give it a little extra BHP.

Other than that bought the Carista connector and app so can now fold mirrors on lock* and unlock all doors with one click on fob (both of which aren't a function on the car - asked dealer they're still looking into it!) *had to get Beta version to get this to work. Recommend the app for any novices.

Apart from the tinted windows interior has been left alone as I like the brushed aluminium look inside- did add some fitted car shades to rear - rear windscreen one was flimsy so left that out (plus made looking out of the rear impossible. Also fitted a coat hanger to the rear of the front passenger seat for when I need to hang my suit jacket while going around doing my business (which I hasten to add is not drug-dealing related although the car gives off that kind of vibe :blahblah1::blahblah1::blahblah1:)

Appreciate it's not to everyone's taste but i'm happy with what I've done so far:rockwoot:

Let’s see when it’s fitted. The link shows a pre-facelift car, will be nice to see it on a 7.5

Wrong link - there's one for an s line version on the site but yes couldn't tell Year. That said checked with them and gave car details and advised should fit - held it in place and looked as if it fitted no problem but like you say won't know till it goes on :culpability:

So car went in today to have front splitter fitted and rear lip spoiler after they had been painted by RS Performance Paintwork. Very subtle differences that enhance the profile and look like as if they've been on car since day 1 since painted the same. Top guys and Simon even lacquered and fitted side and back s-line badges for me while I was there. Love it!:rockwoot:pics before badges got attached...struggling to upload those ones but will put on once wheel spacers go on.

Nice and subtle, I dont think the A6 lends itself itself to drastic moods.

Since I last posted I've had wheel spacers fitted to front and back (12/15mm respectively) and had a Revo remap done.

Even managed to fit in cleaning it today...

What are your gains?
Went from 187bhp to around 235bhp (highest is 240bhp) for a Stage 1. Certainly a bit more punchier.

To get it to engage found I had to put it in dynamic and this changes gear icon on dash from D to S.

Impressive numbers. What torque gain did you get?
Approx 495nm up from about 400nm

If I recall the only Revo site has a list of what stages you can do for a particular vehicle and what changes you can expect to see if you want an idea. I’m happy with how the car performs - was a choice between this and APR but the approved local dealer never bothered getting back in touch whereas Revo one did - also got them to supply and fit wheel spacers.

Only thing is now I get dickheds thinking I’m wanting to race at traffic lights!! ;)

I got mine done by AlloyPro in Lemington - did alloys and Calipers - they have a website which has prices on there. Did a decent job for the amount charged.

Thank you mate

EDIT: Just had a look and I have been there before, a while ago to pick a mate up when he dropped his car off. He was very happy with the result. I take it you have had no problems with the brakes after they would have removed the calipers/refitted and bled?

No problems whatsoever. I was wanting to get them done in yellow but they were up front and said they had done one recently and the colour looked rubbish - they did mine in red and looks ok/good. For £20 each was well worth a punt.

The face they only do alloys and calipers swayed me - other local guys that do a whole host of other things but wanted to find someone that was a specialist - and like I said Audi dealer said they used them all the time when he was at JLR up the road.

Hi Mate, I live in Wallsend and would love to get my calipers powder coated.
Did they remove them and refit after or did you have to take them off yourself?
Cheers
