    Hi all.

Next week im taking delivery of an A4 Avant 130 1.9 Sline 2004. Cannot wait. Wanted one for ages. Had a B7 3.0TDi which got nicked years ago and I've gradually worked my way back, via two beamers and a Volvo, to the magic of the four rings!

Started plannimg upgrades, changes etc and was wondering if anyone has changed their stock symphony set-up, to Bose. Can you just fit speakers for improved sound or do they only work with appropriate bose headunit?

Any other suggestions more than welcome. In an ideal world, having integrated satnav and bluetooth would be the longterm goal. Installation of an audi radionav looks complicated and expensive so if anyone has installed after market equipmemt then some pics/ details would be a big help.

    Cheers

Hi & Welcome. Nice choice in car!

AFAIK the Bose speakers are 2ohms rather than the standard 4ohm system. So you would need all (and the extra speakers if you don't have them fitted already) plus you would need the amps and wiring harness as it will be slightly different from the non-Bose system.

To be honest, it seems to be a lot of extra hard work just for the Bose. You could upgrade the current speakers with better ones and maybe replace the amp/sub in the boot with a stealth unit. (Somebody on here used to? make the stealth sub upgrades, can't remember who but do a forum search)

Cheers for that Dan, thats exactly what I needed to know. Not worth the hastle me thinks. Car is nice! Metallic black, dechromed, half black leather/grey alcantra with gloss black dash inlays the car alreadylooks "Stealth"

Going in for tints on 2nd Dec and ive already ordered ambient lights, dis, cruise, slimline hids and RS4 RARB so that'll keep me busy for a bit...oh and blacksmoke remap coming shortly as well.

Just need to decide on some ICE upgrades. Might look at a double din satnav headunit or something.

Is it worth the effort to install RNS-e you think?

    Cheers for reply

As mentioned, the general consensus is that with the loom etc required a Bose upgrade is more trouble than it's worth. As always, I'm sure someone will have done it!

    Any Mac, RIP. http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/forum-how/195083-andy-mac-stealth-subs.html#post1931196

Note, if you have a 1.9TDi it's a Sport spec rather than an S-Line.

A few people have done the RNS-E route. Even my father wants to upgrade from D to E for the improvement of sound and general functionality of the RNS-E system.

It is one route I suppose or find an aftermarket D-Din unit and rewire the speakers and build your own sub system and amp in boot.

    Thanks guys

I had read Andy-Macs stealth sub thread last night. Shame he's not here to see it put to good use again.

Regarding the RNS-E system, does anyone know of a specialist dealer in 2nd hand bits or is it just a case of watching E-Bay. Saw a post on here about the Erisin or something like that. Lots of function for little money. Thoughts?
