Bonnet lever snapped and cant get it open

needing some help went out to open the bonnet this morning and the lever inside the car snapped clean of leaving the cable just poking out ive tried pulling it with pliers but just isnt opening im needing to get it open as there is someone coming to change the timing belt at 12 lol any help or ideas would be much appreciated

Spray wd40 with straw through bonnet grill trying to soak the latch and components and keep pulling with pliers, it'll go eventually.
