Anybody have the part numbers for all the bits required for retrofitting the bluetooth kit?

I know VW have a couple of different kits available - the one I want is the one that allows you to use SIM Access Profile to connect rather that standard bluetooth for just the audio.

What exactly does the SIM access profile give you then?

Standard bluetooth just takes the speaker and microphone and transmits these wirelessly, whereas SIM Access Profile captures the SIM card over Bluetooth and works like a fixed phone, so you get the benefit of an external antenna. It also downloads contacts and lets you read text messages. The mobile is then unusable as in effect there is no SIM card in it since it is being used by the car kit.

I know the Parrot kits and some other kits also download your contacts but they don't capture the SIM wirelessly.

That's a pity.

According to this: http://www.navplus.us/forum/viewtopic.php?p=42810&sid=6211e9de54fbbacd1c4803ee48219bba it is available on the S5 and some other cars, but not the A3 and A4

Presumably this is because they use MMI, and the A3\4 don't.

Do you have the part numbers of what is needed for the retrofit?

That's correct, you can only have the SIM profile access on the MMI cars - A5, A6, A8 Q7 etc.

All required part number info can be found in the quick links section over on http://www.navplus.us
