Hi guys,
I got the dreaded white smoke leaving work on Friday. I took the TIP off and there is a frightening amount of shaft play. Now, from my limited knowledge it seems to be just the bearings that are shot, I didn't drive it after for the wheels to have taken damage. (I hope)
My question is, what is the best way to get access to the turbo? Engine out? Does it create problems if you disconnect the prop shaft and transfer box etc?
Or head off, head skimmed, maybe even a port and polish?
I'm tempted to go get forged rods, maybe a bigger turbo, the usual power chasing madness.
Has anyone got any advise for removing the turbo?
Thanks,
Dave.
