Blower Motor

My fan was making a weird noise for a few months now which disappeared when the fan is off and over the weekend stopped working completely, i put the fan on full via the.climate control dashboard and it still pushes out no air.

Checked fuse 40 for the blower, its a 40amp fuse, seemed to be fine but I havent replaced it. Vagcom scan showed fresh air blower V2 failure.


Bought a unit off ebay which was stated working, plugged it in and it still doesnt work...? Im stuck now as to what to do? I dont really like driving the car as its unsafe with the windscreen all fogged up and cold with the window down

Can you check the connection with a multi meter to test whether you have power going to the motor ?

i bought a new one off ebay and that doesnt seem to work either :/

I don't have a multimeter but I will try and borrow one/source one.

I'm going to go and buy some new fuses in a last ditch attempt, otherwise I'm a bit screwed and might have have to take it to a specialist / auto electrician to get fixed :/

Does the fan rotate by hand?

New pollen filter, unless you've just changed it.

Do you have a bulb and a couple of pieces of wire ?

what age is your car? do you have the resister bolted to the fan unit? if so the resister unit fails, they are £302 plus VAT from TPS, there was a seller on ebay doing pattern ones for £70, in the space of 6 weeks i had to replace 6 units (on 6 different cars)

I bought a new fan motor with resistor on ebay, it DIDN'T work! So I tried changing the resistor pack by transferring it from my original motor to the ebay one, and it now works fine.

np just that i have 2 spoilers sat around ones a genuine 5 door one the other is an rs3 rep in abs plastic supposed to be for 5 door but no where near a proper fit .
